It’s Party Time – Party Planning in Cape Town

In Activities, Kids by SethVanO

A long time ago at a kids party far far away… A trip to Spur, a chico the clown ice-cream and a vibrant birthday song from spur staff was enough for the jolliest of kids parties. Now days social media bragging and peer pressure have upped the ante. Planning a modern day kids parties comes with its own unique set of challenges, from collecting the decor from the four corners of the Cape for that theme no-one has heard of. To finding a way to keep the 25 sugar high kids you invited entertained before your house resembles a scene from Wreck it Ralph.

After 5 years in the business of kids parties in Cape Town, and having been active in over 4000 parties, we have seen it all. From the over the top 2 year olds party that cost the parents a cool R50k to the small in-house party where simple party games and enthusiastic children were enough for an unforgettable party. The pressure to spend big and throw elaborate parties is a trend in Cape Town that is growing and one which parents struggle with, and most of the pressure isn’t coming from the kids, but the parents.

The secret to throwing a successful party is simple; it needs to equate fun. Kids don’t care how much a party costs, so focus on making sure they have fun and your party is guaranteed to be awesome. Its that easy.

Here are some ideas and tips all about party planning in Cape Town put together by us at Bazinga Parties.

Party Planning

Party Budget, know how much you want to spend at your party and stick to it.

Plan in advance. Most venues and party entertainment companies will need a minimum of 3 – 4 weeks notice particularly if you are planning your kids party on a Saturday or public holiday.

Make sure you gear the entertainment to the age of the kids, balloon sculpting and face-painting are fun for all ages, but sand art and activity tables only work for older age groups. For toddler aged children a mix of our entertainment our soft ball play areas and kiddie rides are the best bet to keep the little ones entertained.

Return the Favour

Pinata’s are an absolute hit at all parties and instead of party packs you could provide each of the little guests with small bags to take home the goodies they collect. Be creative – piñatas don’t have to be filled with candy. You can fill them with trinkets, erasers, rings, coins, whistles, etc.

Have Fun

As parents, we want to make our kid’s party special, and as long as the focus is on the birthday child, it will be. If you and your child are having a good time celebrating the special day, your guests will have a great time too.
